Twin-turbo six-cylinder horizontally opposed engine.
The engine of the 911 models has a twin-turbo configuration. Its stand-out qualities: exceptional power across the speed range, extraordinarily direct responsiveness and a wide torque plateau, even at low speeds. The horizontally opposed construction, with its short length, low height and position in the vehicle rear allows for a low center of gravity. The engine mounts near the center of the car ensure greater stability and fewer vibrations.
Turbochargers.
The engines have two turbochargers and charge-air cooling. It’s an important element of the exhaust turbocharging and greatly contributes to simultaneously increasing performance and reducing emissions.
Rear-axle steering enhances performance and suitability for everyday use in equal measure; by improving the handling during low-speed maneuvers and making maneuvers and turns easier. At the same time, the rear-axle steering gives significantly more driving stability during high-speed maneuvers.
With PASM Sport suspension, the body is lowered a further 10 mm (0.39 in.) in relation to the PASM chassis. The springs are harder and shorter, the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles are stiffer. The spring rates have been significantly raised, giving the 911 a more neutral and balanced presence on the road.
Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is an automatic control system for maintaining stability at the limits of dynamic driving performance. For a high level of driving stability and safety – and extraordinary agility at the same time. In conjunction with the Sport Chrono Package, PSM is supplemented by a Sport mode. This allows a significantly more sporty driving style, with PSM remaining active in the background.
Typically 911: the long, flat hood, the steeply inclined windshield and the roof line that slopes gently down towards the rear. The fenders are more clearly shaped, the rear is powerful and clearly emphasizes the horizontal.
The seamless light strip with LED technology between the three-dimensional LED taillights characterizes the appearance of all 911 models. And makes them unmistakable, even at night.
An eye-catching and defining element of the 911 Targa models: the roll-over bar. It meets the highest safety requirements and has its own iconic character: with bar trims made of aluminum, lateral gills and the original ‘targa’ logo.
The shape and position of the main headlights are also reminiscent of the first 911 generations. The latest LED technology is used inside them.
The analog tachometer is positioned in the center of the instrument cluster and, therefore, always in the driver’s line of sight. The ascending center console ensures short distances between steering wheel and gear lever, and the intuitively placed switches and buttons. All for the unmistakable sensation of driving a 911.
High-resolution displays and touch-sensitive buttons, as well as clearly structured functions and content. Thanks to the Porsche Advanced Cockpit control concept, the 911 interior has never been so focused. Typical sports car: the buttons, which have been consciously kept as analog buttons, offer direct access to essential drive and chassis functions.
From the gear selector to the air outlet: every surface, every detail is carefully considered and in high quality. There is virtually no end to the combination of options of available material and equipment – your personal taste is the limit.
The 911 sport seats are comfortable and provide support even during dynamic cornering maneuvers. The Sport Seats Plus have an even sportier design. Here firmer side bolsters on the seat cushions and backrests increase lateral support. Another benefit: the fully electric seat adjustment with Memory Package for Driver‘s seat – more comfort for driver and passenger.
Sound performance of the highest level, individually matched to your 911. 13 amplifier channels, 13 loudspeakers, an active, separate subwoofer with 300-watt class D amplifier. All together: 855 watts of pure musical pleasure additionally; improved by the sound enhancer that optimizes the tone of data-compressed music files.
Porsche Connect
We need to get the most out of every day. Porsche Connect* helps you do this. It puts you in the ideal starting position for every drive in your 911. And the services in the car and the Porsche Connect app for your smartphone are the perfect co-pilots for your everyday life.
The system adapts the speed of your 911 depending on the distance to vehicle in front of you. If you approach another vehicle that is traveling slower than your selected cruising speed, the system slows the engine or gently applies the brakes. Even down to a halt. As soon as the road ahead clears, your 911 will accelerate back up to the cruising speed originally set.
Lane Keep Assist eases the burden on you by providing steering assistance, helping to keep the vehicle in lane. Traffic sign recognition displays speed limits, ‘no passing’ zones and indirect information, such as boundary signs, in the instrument cluster. The cornering notification displays an arrowed direction warning on the instrument cluster, alerting you to tight corners. Long before you reach them.
Night Vision Assist uses an infrared camera to detect pedestrians and large wildlife before they are illuminated by the headlights. A thermal image in the instrument cluster warns the driver.
With ‘Wet’ mode, the 911 uses an innovative system that aids you when driving in the wet. If the sensors in the front wheel housing detect wet roads, the system will recommend switching to ‘Wet mode’. The chassis control systems and the responsiveness of the drivetrain will then be adapted to the circumstances.*
*The ‘Wet’ driving mode is not a substitute for adopting an appropriate driving manner in different road and weather conditions, and is, at the most, an aid for the driver.
